Detroit Civic Youth Ensembles
During the 2018-2020 seasons, I worked as the bassoon mentor for the Detroit Symphony’s Civic Youth Ensembles. I led bassoon and full woodwind sectionals, gave lessons, and coached students in rehearsals. As an alumni of CYE, I loved returning to teach the next generation of bassoonists.
Private Teaching.
I draw on the philosophies of my teachers and the Eastman school of playing in my approach to teaching. I believe that good bassoon playing is achieved by mastering fundamentals, reed making, scales, and etudes. I work with individuals based on where they are and what they need in their journey with the bassoon. During 2020-2021 I have been teaching virtually via Zoom.
